Oesophageal cancer

Hi about six weeks ago i had a biopsies on a small  nodule in my esophagus i was then told i had high grade dysplasia and the nodule would be removed by emr.i went yesterday to have this done and was told by this doctor that the biopsie showed i had a carcinoma.but then to make matters worse the nodule wasnt removed as 2 different doctors couldn't find it.i wasnt given any explanation for this and all they did was take more biopsies.has anyone ever heard of this.im wondering why the first doctor told me i had high grade dysplasia and not carcinoma.the first doctor is now on annual leave.im worried sick over this.has anyone had this happen to them.

  • Vatch, thanks for your reassurances about my voice coming back.  Normally, I never stop talking (so I’m told!) so am finding it frustrating.   I enjoyed reading your ’voice’ blog and found it really funny. Fortunately, I can still make a sound by whispering but will get my pen and paper ready!

Last leg now. Will keep in touch.

  • Hi James,

  • Hi christine

  • Hi James,

This year I've found that insurewith.com had the best prices, in the past I've used essentialtravel.co.uk

There are other companies obviously, it is worth shopping around.

    Cheers

  • Hi everyone I hope someone can help me with this.I had halo ablation on my oesophagus about six weeks ago and was booked to have more on the seventh of December.I went for a pre halo check on Friday and was disappointed to be told that I still hadn't healed and the next halo wouldn't be until February.on my report it says I have some slough from the previous halo, and have an inflammatory looking nodule.I had this nodule biopsied as well as the scar from my emr.I was only given my report when I was leaving the recovery area so didn't get a chance to speak to the doctor.does anyone know what these terms mean.im a little concerned as the last nodule I had removed by emr was cancerous.on a funnier note there were four of us in the recovery area and we had all been pumped full of air so it was like the scene from blazing saddles lol.                                                                                                                                                                                                                   Best wishes james

  • Hi James

My dad just been diagnosed with osphegus cancer don't know the type grade etc

He was diagnosed 28th December after endoscope and biopsy done

We need to wait till Wednesday which us nearly 2 weeks after diagnoses to find out the plan

We have my dad at home on liquid morphine but since the diagnosis he has been very sick just hoping they hurry up and let us know something as we are all worried sick

  • Hi James,

That's an awfully long time for you to have to wait for your results and I hope you hear something soon.  The waiting is the worst part!

I'm doing okay with no problem swallowing now but am due for a scan and blood tests in February. On the downside, I fell off a stool two days before New Year's Eve and was taken to hospital with concussion.  Very bruised but now back home and getting better.  Won't be climbing on stools again!

Have a lovely time in Tenerife and keep in touch.

    Best Wishes Christine
