Breast Cancer (again)

Hi All

Been reading of a few of the posts and just wanted to say hi, really.

Having reached my 5 yr anniversary in Autumn, I'm feeling pretty *** at the min having recently been diagnosed again in same breast after my annual routine mammogram.

A little bit of history: Spring 2011 my elder sister (45 at the time) found a lump which was (ductal) breast cancer, 2 months later my mum (65 at the time) found a lump which was (lobular) breast cancer and after joing the Family History Clinic at my local hospital August 2012 (nearly 43) my tumour was spotted after my 2nd annual mammogram.

So am now waiting for results of a CT scan (scary times) and a date for surgery for a mastectomy and possible ovariectomy.

Don't really know what else to say except hopefully get results and surgery date on thursday so for now it's all things crossed x

  • You Are so positive

    love that

good luck with your op. X

  • Sorry perhaps I've been unclear. I've had my op back in Feb. I meant yours. I'm not always positive - like we all experience its a real rollercoaster of emotions.

It's hard not to be positive as only we know what we all go through emotionally and physically. But we got this!!

I felt like I had no choice but to be positive as it was scary stepping into the unknown.  Take it easy and go do something nice for yourself.

  • Hi all.

Well I’m 5 days post op after the mastectomy doing really well, feeling very positive. Had my dressing off and am so pleased with the neatness of my wound and all things considered it’s been a memorable xmas and new year but could have been worse so onward and upward to 2018.

Taking a little getting used to the fluidy floopy sounds from my chest but fingers crossed that all settles down and causes no problems.

Take care all you peeps on the rollercoaster and hang on tight x x x

    Hi Girli21,

I am so glad to hear that you have had your mastectomy and are doing well. Don't worry about the 'floppy sounds' - these settle eventually.

I have had two bouts of cancer in the same breast. The first time was 7½ years ago and the second 6½ years ago. The first time I had a lumpectomy followed by Tamoxifen treatment and the second I had a double mastectomy, followed by Letrozole treatment for 6 years. I just finished taking this last July. My mum also died with breast cancer 20 years ago, but treatment has progressed so much further since then.

I'm glad to hear that your woundis neat. Mine was a bit of a mess, which was blamed on the original lumpectomy. I tried myofascial release on it and it looks so much better now. I couldn't have any reconstruction, but can still attend exercise classes, go swimming and even wear the odd evening dress.

Here's hoping that things go better for you now that you've had it all removed. Please keep in touch and remember that we are always here for you whenever you want to talk.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
