Lumpectomy Not Long Completed

Hi,

My Nan  at the age of 58 has recently been diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer and is due for surgery on the 17th of this month, me and my mum have concerns as expected but not so much about the cancer as it has been beaten alot in later stages in our family, the thing that worries us most is her condition, she is very overweight and I know that it increases chances of things not going to plan but I wondered just how much? Is there anyone similiar with expirience whether it be them or someone in their family and can help settle some nerves or expect us for what to come?

Thanks in advance

  • Hi there josh ... hope she’s doing well now, and on the mend ... lumpectomy is still quite major .... so still lots of rest ... my scar was quite painless really .. but pritty tender wear lymph nodes taken ... it will all take time to heal ... they take lymph nodes to see if they are clear of any cancer cells (as far as I know) my lump was grade 3 but luckily for me lymph node was clear ... it’s a good indication of where things are and what treatment she may need ... she’s so lucky she caught it so quickly...

send my best wishes to her ... what an amazing grandson you are ... bet she’s so proud of you  ... keep hanging in there josh ... Chrisie x ️

  • So how possible that the results could come back that she needs further surgery, also is it mastectomy that would be the worst result or could it be worse news?

  • Sorry josh , no one can tell you that answer ... only her sergeon... try not to panic, though it’s easier said then done ... but there’s no way round the waiting ... they will get all the information to gether so they will no what’s needed ... it won’t help your nan if you panic, she needs you to be calm ....

    take care Chrisie x

  • Yeah the waiting is horrible because the results could differ so much but all will be found out on the 26th which is still more waiting to be done.
