Breast cancer

Hi I was hoping for a site that could offer support I wears diagnosed yesterday for the second time the first time being 17 years ago! So it came as a shock! I am feeling very scared and not slept at all well last night! It's knowing that I have this awful disease growing in me and it's just a waiting game now!

  • Oh darling you are so young but I was only 37 the first time around! You will be fine Hun! Keep those positive vibes, it's so important! I am now 54 so have survived 17 years and watched my son who was only 1 and now 18 grow up! Such as blessing! I intend to be here to see my grandchildren grow up I'm going to beat this cancer yet again x

  • Sheena

I'm 37 now sorry had a birthday and I forget! (Nothing wrong with that)

Like you I have young children 2,6,11 and that's my driving force seeing them grow have children marry or graduate.

    And no question beating this.

    Xx

  • I do appreciate they need time to analyse all my tests and discuss the results to plan the right treatment for me but you just see the days pass and become more and more anxious! :| Sure it will all be in front of me soon. Having went through it before you will remember the stages, not sure if that helps or not!! x

  • Yes I know what your saying and I appreciate they are doing their tests but the last time I was private health coz my husband worked for the bank so I was seen really quick! Totally different this time my husband was made redundant 8 years ago and we are struggling so on nhs now x

  • We toyed with going private as we have private medical insurance but everything happened so quick for me in the first few days. Diagnosed Tues, back Thurs for MRI, back on the Monday and Wednesday the next week for more tests. Assured it wouldn't have happened quicker by going private and I really can't fault the NHS so far. Once I know my treatment plan, we will decide if going private or staying nhs. Part of me wants to be around other ladies, chatting etc rather than being stuck in a room on my own but time will tell what choice we make.

So sorry to hear it is proving to be worse for you having experienced private v's nhs. What stage are you at just now as far as what is happening? x

  • Just waiting for the appointment for scan but in all fairness to the NHS I was only diagnosed Friday but the weekend has got to be the longest weekend in my life! Hope to hear this week! I understand that you would rather be around other woman and I totally agree! Good luck I love this site never had anything like this the last time regards Sheena x

  • I am sure you will hear soon. I was told on Tuesday 9th when diagnosed that I would get a call for my MRI within 2-3 weeks and I got a call the next evening to go on the Thursday so all within 48 hrs. Hope you manage to get seen as quick. The waiting seems to drag, even a few days seems like weeks.

Yes I am going to decide once I get my treatment plan - hopefully after this Wednesdays MDT meeting.

It is great to come hear to share questions and stories with people who can give honest and true advice x

  • Oh thankyou and wow that was very quick! You give me hope that it won't be the 2 weeks they quote! Good luck at your meeting hope it's positive x

  • Think they just have to cover themselves for the longest possibility, fingers crossed you hear real soon! x

  • Thanks Hun never heard anything today so hopefully tomorrow! X
