PET Scan

Hello everyone so in 2022 I was diagnosed with bowel cancer and had a section of my bowel removed and then 4 months of chemotherapy. I have been under the consultant since then and on 29th December I went for my CT scan which is part of my recovery and today I had a phone call to say I need a PET scan as there was something on the CT scan. Has anybody else experienced this please as they always say don't worry but to be honest you cant help but worry.

Thanks

  • They have said it is on the right side of my tummy if that helps

    Thanks

  • Hi

I had a pet scan recently. Nothing to be scared of, it doesn't hurt as all they do is inject a radioactive dye that shows on the scan any areas that the consultant wants to check out in more detail.

For me it was to see if i had cancer anywhere else in my body other than my right tonsil...

MRI and CT are not as productive in giving the full picture. It could be anything showing on your routine scan and to keep you safe they want to do a PET scan which will rule out other things...

Worrying is normal but see it as a posative and that they are keeping you safe.. I think after any cancer treatment hospitals will take more care and double check everything

My fingers are crossed for you, let me know how you get on
