Worried - struggling to cope whilst waiting to see my consultant to find out what breast cancer treatment I'll be having

Hi

I am waiting for a meeting with my consultant after having scans to determine treatment for breast cancer.I am struggling to cope with my emotions and get cross with myself about this

Last week  I took myself for a long walk and gave myself a good talking to and felt better.

A week later and all the anxiety is back. I think it will be another couple of weeks before I find out the consultants plan

I am back to worrying what the plan is the treatment involved and how I will cope and I don't even know what it is yet!

I need to stop thinking like this

Thank you

  • Waiting to find out what happens next is very tough Fluff1, but I hope it helps to know that you are not alone as so many of our members who have been through this already will completely understand the rollercoaster of emotions you're contending with at the moment and hopefully some of them will stop by soon to offer their support and advice.

Coping with a cancer diagnosis can be very tough but I hope this information we have about mental health and cancer, including how cancer can make you feel, will help you find a way to to manage your emotions and show you that everything you're experiencing is completely natural, so do try and be kind to yourself at this time.

If it would help to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very easy to talk to and will do all they can to support you whilst you wait.

We're sending you all our strength and support Fluff and wishing you all the best when you meet with your consultant to find out what breast cancer treatment you'll be having.
