Hi there
I've recently learned that I have anal cancer and will undergo radiotherapy and chemo, in tablet form are there any other people who have been in my situation who are willing to share their story with me?

Hi there. I'm so sorry it's taken me so long to reply. I really appreciated your message when I got it and your honesty too. Have you started your chemo now then? I hope you're staying strong. X
Hi there. I was really grateful to get your message, I'm sorry I've taken so long to reply.
You sound incredibly strong and how you've managed that and with 3 kids I have no idea! I'm presuming you've finished your treatment now, how do you feel? I'm a week in and the anti sickness meds were useless so it wasn't a good week. But at least that's another step closer. Are there any tips you'd give me, anything I can buy or do for myself to make things easier as they get harder?
I hope you're feeling ok xx
Hi
wow thank you for your amazing message. I truly appreciate your time and honestly, and some tips too. I imagine they'll be priceless. How are you now so many weeks post treatment? did you imagine in the easier early days that things would get so bad? I'm only 5 days in but because it's not too bad at this stage, I'm imagining the worst and that I've be lulled into a false sense of security.
Did you stop eating or drinking through fear of going to the loo? I think that's how I'll probably feel. What a nightmare. I hope you can reply when you can and that you're well x
Hi.
im on day 12 of 28 radiotherapy treatments. Also have oral chemotherapy so same as everyone else as this is standard treatment for anal cancer. So far it's manageable. Yes I'm tired but as previous comments just rest and forget the housework. Skin is sore and feels a little like prickly heat. I use Lots of the gel they have given me to keep it moistuused. I also try and get plenty of air down there rather than keeping it covered up. Just lay on the bed after cleaning the area and let it breathe, this is really helping. By far the worst thing is the change to bowel movements. Dont go anywhere without Imodium. Trying to control the diarrhoea whilst keeping stools soft enough to not cause discomfort is very tricky. Not sure I have that worked out yet as diarrhoea has only started in the last few days and it's the thing I'm dreading the most. Take care everyone.xx
Hi there. I wondered how you're getting on now? I hope you're as ok as you can be.
I'm 3 weeks in and my main issues are the pain of having a wee or the other, and the incessant itching. Have you experienced these? were you given anything to help?
