  • Hello Villa1

I'm sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis of NPC. It's understandably a difficult time right now and you will have many questions.

We do have some information on our website about nasopharyngeal cancer which may be of interest. I'd also really encourage you to post a message on this thread. I know that the title relates to throat cancer but we have many members who have been through treatment for different oral cancers. They are a very supportive bunch who I'm sure will be happy to share their experiences of treatment and tips for coping with you. I'm sure that you may also find that one or two of them have had teeth removed as I know that I have read posts here on the forum where members have needed this done prior to treatment commencing.

In addition, I wanted to give you our nurse helpline details as they will be happy to offer any advice, information, and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

Keep in touch Villa1 and let us know how you get on. We'll do our best to support you over the coming weeks and months.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Villa1! How's it going? I've been diagnosed with stage 3 npc with ebv positive recently. I don't really have information because I'm also dealing with it now. Feel free to contact me if you want to talk!

For the teeth removal, yes, I heard that usually they would remove the bad teeth and the wisdom teeth, but for my cancer, I didn't get any teeth removed.

  • Hey Hea_d

I'm all good at the minute just had teeth out and start chemo 21st which I'm not that nervous about yet which is concerning me. How are you doing have you started any treatment yet ?.if you don't mind how did you find out you had npc what where your symptoms ?.

  • Hey Villa1,

I'm doing good. I'm getting my fertility preservation done. And probably I'm going to start my treatments 20th. My symptoms started when I felt my left ear blocked after my flights. And I went to see the GP, she spotted a swollen lump on my left neck.

What about you, if you don't mind me asking?

  • Hi Hea_d

Mine started back In March caught a really heavy cold loads of congestion in face and as it was wearing off my hearing went in right ear, after a lot of visits to my doctors I was sent to see a ent doctor in May  who refered me to the hospital and since then it just all been a whirl wind of appointments  I honestly thought I just had an inner ear problem or a problem with eustachian tube not npc.

You been told what treatment you will be having ?

Hope your fertility presevation goes well

  • I'll have 3 circles of induction chemo and then 30 radiotherapy along with other circles of chemo.

  • Ive been told 3 rounds of chemo that covers 9 weeks not discussed radio yet

If you don't mind me asking what part of the country are you being treated ?

  • Hi hea_d
