Hi Mickey,

Thank you so much for checking in on me. xx Sorry I have been a bit quiet, everything got a bit overwhelming over Christmas and was trying to just try and switch off the best I could for my boys. xx

MRI went better than expected yesterday. Much better face down than up and only lasted 15mins.

Have had my letter with my diagnosis which has confirmed that I have - Grade 2 invasive lobular carcinoma - ER postive HER2 negative and it is 6mm on conventional imaging. My consultant has also said that with treatment I have an excellent prognosis.

Next step is tomorrow, I have my Axillary Lymph Node biopsy followed by an a appointment with the breast surgery team on Friday then lumpectomy surgery on 18th. So glad that everything is now moving closer to getting this cancer removed and out of my body.

Totally understand that, it can all get very overwhelming. Wow, that's all very positive then. Good luck with the lymph node biopsy tomorrow. Do you know if you will get those results early or with your surgery results? 

I know exactly what you mean, all I could focus on was getting the cancer out.

Have not been told if I will get the results early or with my surgery results?? Do you know what the normal procedure would be for this? Also I read that if the ultrasound shows clear lymph nodes a biopsy is not needed? If this right?

Hi Aliy, 

Results seem to vary from hospital to hospital as does the process for sentinel lymph node removal. Some hospitals can test them as they are removed, but most have to send them off like other biopsies and wait for the results.  I would suggest you ask tomorrow if you will get them before your main surgery, just so you know. Normally if they do the biopsy first that is because they want the results before your main surgery because if worst case scenario there was any evidence of cancer they could deal with that in your main surgery also. But please ask them so you are sure of the process at your hospital. 

My lymph nodes looked clear on ultrasound, but they still wanted the biopsy to confirm. I think that's pretty standard, but again ask them when you are there. 

Hoping they are clear for you also.
