  • Hi Jolamine

very sorry to hear about your swollen arms so awful when everyday tasks are difficult  I. don't fancy going to a clinic I don't drive and transport is not good .I don't wear bras indoors ,kaftans or loose jersey top and trousers no bra just slip on a waistcoat with stuffed pockets  if anyone comes round no one notices I don't go out much  bad back make it painful to walk very far and I love being home anyway very interested in your new bras so yes please let me know I will tell u how the running bra pans out.   Polyester wadding  in cups of old bra  with the sides and straps cut off  works,  downsize boobs feel right

my district nurse suggested water tablet to deal with the Swelling   ??? Will have to google it

    Hi Colleen,

I often go braless at home too. Your waistcoat sounds like a touch of genius. I have a lot of trouble with my back too. The only way that I get around is with a mobility scooter.

I go back to the lymphoedema clinic in a fortnight, so, assuming that they have the right bras in this time, I shall let you know the make. I am certainly interested to hear how the running bra pans out.

I am a 44C and I found full sized silicone prostheses were too heavy, especially as I have to wear 2 prostheses.

I have high blood pressure and have taken water tablets for years. In fact I have doubled up on the strength of the tablets in the past couple of years. It does keep the swelling down in my legs, but has done nothing to control my arms or hands. They have their drawbacks too, but they're certainly worth a try.

    Regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Are those boob tube things that thirteen year olds wear any good fabric wise?

  •

    Hi Rileyroo,

They are very soft, but dont have any opening to allow you to slip into them. You just slip them over your head. They might suit if you have a tiny frame which I don't! I am a size 22 and bra size 44C.

You would need to sew a seam down the front middle to hold a very light prosthesis, but this should be easy enough to do. They certainly didn't work for me.

    Hi Colleen,

I am so sorry to hear that the running vest was a non-starter. Have you asked your breast care nurse if she can suggest anything? Sometimes they have some good ideas.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Was thinking more that the fabric might be suitable rather than it being usable straight off the peg.

  • Hi rileyroo

No it's too soft  fine you have breasts but   No good if not. I'v tried swimming costume but the struggle to get it on was too painful,  I think waistcoat made from swim costume fabric or cut up leggings  my best bet
