Hi Catswhiskers,
Hows the radiotherapy going?
Hey Potterylady, how are you? Sorry I forgot to update you, I am still trying to get to grips with this site. I have sent you a friend request as that is a good reminder for me to stay on top of my messages! So far so good, I can give you a full update once we are "friends". But no presure to accept!!
Hi Catswhiskers, of course. Now friended.
Hi Catswhiskers,
I have been reading your messages n replies. I would be grateful if you could share a bit more with me. I have got a diagnosis of grade 2 stage 2 endometrial cancer n I am going to start external n internal radiotherapy after the new year.
Would you mind telling me more about your treatments? I read that you had 1 chemo session but then switched to radio. How long did you wait between your hysterectomy to your first chem/radio treatment? How are you getting on now? Any long term side effects?
Hope you are doing well.
Best wishes
Chui
Hi Copperpot,
I have read your messages n would be grateful if you could tell me more about your pelvic radiotherapy.
I am a stage 2 grade 2 endometrial cancer patient. I am going to have external n internal radiation in January.
Did you also have external pelvic radiotherapy? Any side effects?
Best wishes
Chui
Hi there Chui
How are you? Sorry to hear that you have endometrial as well.
I think I had my chemo 5 weeks after my op .. that was unsuccessful, so then I was advised to have radiotherapy and that started about 6 weeks later. I had 25 radiotherapy sessions over 5 week period. Then 2 brachytherapy. My advice would be just to takeit one day at a time - don't think too far ahead. It's all doable. Good luck x
Many thanks for your reply. I wonder starting it more than 9 weeks after my hysterectomy is too late.
Did you feel unwell during n after the treatment? Any long lasting side effects?
Sorry to trouble you. I am really worried.
Best wishes,
Chui
Hi Chui, of course you are worried. I was. Your medical team are the experts are far as timescales and treatment are concerned. I was also very concerned about having radiotherapy as I had read a lot about the side effects. But because I didn't have chemo I felt that I should then have the radiotherapy. Albeit it was only a small % advantageous , it was still giving me my best possible chance. I had a few side effects during and after treatment (bladder and bowels) but things are pretty much back to normal now. The radiotherapy treatment has come on leaps and bounds over the years and you will have a planning scan before treatment. This is done with absolute precision and is tailored specifically to you. Hope that helps x
Many many thanks Catswhiskers
Your reply is really encouraging. I will be brave and trust my health care team. I must say from this first day I saw the cancer team medical staff to now going to meet the radiotherapy team, I have received excellent care.
Best wishes,
Chui
