The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

Sandra x ️X

  • Morning peeps

    bad :- none yay!

good :- daughter working from home ( for TV redelivery) so no school run for me which is fab cos it is hissing down here.

Up early cos forgot to turn off alarm... doh!

just put last coat of sealer on sofa nd chair. I am absolutely buzzing at how it looks. Of course all depends on how it wears now.. but will be waxing regularly so fingers crossed cos love it.... it’s such a  comfortable set.... why it gets used so much.

Gotta leave it 3 days to cure ( hope it doesn’t melt as it sets lol).

Will put pic on when fully done...seat cushions put in place etc. Sooo glad daughter stopped me buying a replacement cos apart from a lot of disappointing worry and dismay its been interesting nd enjoyable :D

have as good a day as u can peeps x

  • Ah Billy I’ve got everything crossed you are successful ( it will be an absolute disgrace if you are not).

when I think of some of the people I know never worked on benefits nd new cars, go abroad 3 times a year etc..... well....... I hope someone as deserving as you nd your wife are successful x

  • Morning Sandra..

Just read about your granddaughters eye , bless her ... hope she's o.k now .. we worry about them more then we did our kids years ago .. was only reminiscing yesterday, how we all walked home from school alone .. just the lollypop lady to cross roads .. on week ends / summer holiday from school, we'd be out all day, just go home when hungry .. and that was from about 6/7 years old ..

We'd wonder everywhere .. now we can't let them out of our site ... even taking them to a swing park, I'm paranoid about keeping them in eye shot .. oh how things have changed .. but then we never had pads with games on .. or much t.v .. watch with mother mid day .. and nothing till tea time on the box .. and just a little black and white t.v .. that constantly rolled and had to tune back in ... a tin bath brought in once a week on Friday.. filled with hot water from the pots and pans on the stove or coal fire ..

Oh my I've regressed to my childhood ... lol .. any ways, have a good day Sandra and  peeps ..Dizzle how you doing lovely lass .. hope all's well ...

Well my morning douchy gusto coffee is calling from the kitchen ....

    Keep kicking cancers butt...  Chrissie

  • Well happy bday to you :)

another year .... good times. Have a goodin Billy... I hope you have a treat lined up for yourself :)

nah... no wallpaper... don’t have any anywhere ... all painted nd don’t even need a touch up... good times  lol. X

  • Hi chrissie you just reminded me of the old days my mother had bad rumatics so I did clothes (i was about 7or,8) there was a galvanised tub and a dolly it was called a wooden post with a handle across near the top on btm was a galvanised bell best way to explain it and you kept pushing dolly and lifting up for about ten minutes then the old mangle two rollers you fed the items through the rolls if you were strong enough,. People called it the good old days, but then i suppose it was to us, we didn't know any different,.

    Billy

  • Ah thanks Chris... the swelling has gone down again. Was just scary how quick it came up out of no where.

Eeee I remember it all lol. Billy my gran had same A dolly nd tub. My aunt had the tin bath that she still used but we had a bathroom ( how posh eh.... was a council house - times were just moving on in some of our housing I guess.

We had a washer with electric mangle but we also had a boiler ( a round metal tub thing on legs with a gas ring under it) the hose just pushed onto s gas pipe nd lit it with a match....don’t know how we never got blown up lol. All the whites went in nd got boiled before going into the washer.

I was out all day too. Could stay out as long as I fancied but we all just went home when it got too dark to see the ball etc lol.

Our garden backed onto the main London to Edinburgh line.... I remember clear as a bell the steam trains going past. The sparks from the stacks used to sometimes set the back garden on fire nd we all used to fill pans with water to put it out lol.

There was a huge airship shed at the back of where my gran lived ( down the street from us).... kids paradise ( how we didn’t kill ourselves.... I don’t let my gran kids go on the high banana slide now :D:D:D x

  • Hi Billy..

Yea and I remember chestnut season and dad would put some on the shovel and put it on the fire and roast them .. no washing machines .. or microwave... no central heating .. boy were the bedrooms cold .. but always a good fresh meal on table .. my dad was a miner ... worked down the pits all his life from 14 till he retired ...

The funny thing is l remember nan always talking about "the good old days" and I'd be board stiff listening ... now I wish I had listened more .. she was born in 1899 ... so bet she had it even worse .. had 14 kids ... 7 still born ... and 7 lived .. so got a huge family now ...

Well that's by the by now ...  Chrissie xx

  • It's unbelievable how things have changed for the children when my grandson comes round he brings his three boys there into every thing when not on i pads came round last week we don't have Internet in house, kids were moaning because i pads won't get signal, they wouldn't go in garden to play,. Billy

  • Sad sign of the times I guess. Don’t know what they are missing.

can you imagine them reminiscing in 50 yrs time.., it’ll be all- I remember having to connect to broadband... nd it was so slow :D
