The good and the bad

Hi peeps

I have recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Taking the excellent advice on this website I pretty much started by taking it one day at a time. This does indeed help.

I thought to share the good and the bad and would love to hear anyone else's should they wish to share.

Today I had both a good and a bad moment. I received 2 letters in the post.

The first was from the hosp confirming my op date (my bad moment) cos my stomach dropped and I had that now familiar feeling of anxiousness take hold for a moment but shook it off cos I know it is needed.

The good - my 2nd letter - as if... a tax rebate - boom  . Not half put a much needed smile on my face . Reckon a my treat family meal is in order.

Eeee it's the little things ain't it.

Take care peeps

  • Hi Ladies!

Just thought I'd quickly let you know just received all clear for my first annual check !

Hope everyone is fighting onwards and upwards!

    Much love

    WQ xx

  • Hi Ladies. Great news about the all clear!!!

Dizzle - do not give them any brain space. Only positivity and be around people you want to. Their loss - you are happy and like you said their negativity brings them down so they try to bring all down with them.

Bro-in-law still in hospice but deteriorating. Just want him to have peace now. It's painful for him both physically and mentally. Hospice staff have been so amazing.

Hope you all have been keeping as well as possible and are able to enjoy the sunshine. Am drained physically and mentally.

Been watching "What/If" on Netflix- very good!

    Take it easy ladies.x

  • Well ladies and Billy

I've totally lost this thread on my followed threads and never know when anyone has posted. I don’t seem to be able to recover it. I’ve just been catching up, Nice to see familiar faces reappearing.

Here in my life the roller coaster has been swinging round and round. Hubbys been out of hospital just over four weeks now and has been referred back to the medics on the MDT. He has to have bowel stump checked every two years but beyond that we don’t know. He’s getting used to the stoma and drove for the first time yesterday. He’s off all his meds for colitis and just has one now to control the output of the stoma.

Meanwhile my sister was told last week that she’d had a mini stroke but fortunately there was no damage to the brain. She’s on meds for that now. Also she has developed a mysterious lump at the side of her eye. No one seems to know what it is, not the optician or the doctor at the eye clinic. She’s been told  it’s a blocked duct, a blood clot or cancer. She’s awaiting an appt to see another specialist. I’m concerned for her as she’s a terrible worrier and suffers from panic attacks. I’m just hoping it doesn’t bring on another stroke.

At the moment I’m doing a very bad imoression of Flo Nightingale in between naps. :-)  The roller coaster never endeth it seems.

  • Hi Sundial,

A word about being in a car and seat belts - with my stoma placement, the seatbelt goes right across the middle of the bag. Depending on how the output is on the day, this can cause a blow-out/leak. Happened to me a couple of times.

There are clips you can buy that let you clip the waist part to the shoulder part, that let you avoid this possible problem while maintaining the integrity of the seatbelt.

    Best Regards

    Taff

  • Thanks Taff

My husband actually manages with the seatbelt below the bag at the moment so it doesn’t touch but I’ll mention the clips to him.

I received my Inssurance authorization for my first mamogram after my Lumpectomy, I have to say I'm scared to say the least. :(

The good: I took a few days off to go to las Vegas and I really enjoy it. whent by my self!! Saw a couple of shows and relax by the pool. Now is back to work , and , I forgot to tell you ladies , I seriously picked up on my gardenning, I found this wonderfull Facebook group that we exchange ideas and help eachother with plant plants ideas, pests, and everything to do with the garden , so this is been keeping me busy but I really enjoy it and my garden is looking lovely!!
