Radiation pain

I have had nine out of fifteen radiotherapy treatments. Everything was going fine. This morning I woke up with what I can only describe as muscular pain across my shoulders, neck and upper chest. I mentioned it to the radiographer she didn't seem concerned. Has anyone had such pains during their treatment?  Many thanks. Audrey.

  • Hello my lovely! :)

So glad to hear you are feeling much better and even more glad to hear your treatment is finally over! Yay! Well done you and now you can breathe, recover and get stronger. We cancer fighters are very much tougher than people often give us credit for. ;)

Finally finished the chemo but the last treatment certainly took its pound of flesh! My veins had given up in my hands so I had to have it in the wrist and that hurt. My eyes leaked tears (and I am not a crier!) applying pressure to stem the bleeding at the end but I was determined to get it over with. I've been quite poorly for the past few days but just the usual fatigue, sickness, constipation, chemo brain, confusion, inability to speak... blah, blah, blah! Just the usual. Ha, ha!

Went for my initial radiotherapy scan and complimentary tattoo's last Monday and start the treatment on 27th April. I'm impatient to start as the sooner it begins, the sooner it'll be over.

Would you mind if I seek you out whilst I'm undergoing the treatment? I would really appreciate your help and advice whilst it's going on since you've already been through it all. Would that be ok? .... Joanne xxx

  • Hello Joanne

Lovely to hear from you again and so pleased the final chemotherapy is done. You sound as if you have had a challenging time, I did too. The cannula in your wrist sounds so painful. My veins only managed two cycles then I had to have a central line put in, which made things a lot easier.

It is a relief when the chemotherapy is over, now you know all these nasties are for one more time only

I will happily help you in any way just ask away at anytime. I found once it started it went over quickly.  Take things easy and recover. Love and hugs. Audrey xx
