capecitabine

I just had my first round of chemmo tablets....14 a day and had to stop after 11 instead of 14 days because of the side effects. I have a rash all over my face and even my gentials have a rash and sometimes bleed. I have a terrible taste in my mouth, was very fatigued and could hardly walk because the bottom of my feet hurt so much. Because of the bad taste in my mouth and nausea it was hard to eat.

My question is since I have no spouse or kids and am 61 should I try chemo again or just move on to a quality of life instead of quantity.

They told me I am stage 3 but they think they got most of it and my chemo is being used as an adjunct.

  • Dear Rocker, I’m new to this cancer and chemo compared to the 2015 chats here.

I read loads of the comments and was touched by your story. I’m on my second course and like you did, I’m struggling with side effects. 20% reduction and exhaustion, leg cramps, tingling fingered and toes, but no metal mouth.

Thank you for openly writing your experiences here. I know it’s over 3 years on now but wanted to thank you for sharing. Hopefully you are doing well. Please let us know. All the very very best, Christopher

  • Thanks for writing. I am doing pretty good. I workout daily, walk lots and try to follow the cancer diet closely....although my sweet tooth kills me. I am closer to being 98% cancer free although they are not checking the 2 nodules in my thyoid so who knows.

It can suck when you are poisoning your body but the other choice can be to just kill yourself naturally so keep up the chemo. In the long run it will be worth it. We only have 1 life to live so do the best you can now....and a secret....I try to smile and laugh daily and make others around me laugh....very tiring on some of those sourpusses...lol

    Take care

  • So glad to hear your 98%cancer free. Hope the nodules turn our benign or nothing at all. Thank you for replying. It’s good to have a sense of humour. Keep making people laugh.

Early days for me but I will persevere. I’m getting intermediate pins and needles in fingers and toes - predominantly when it’s cold but as it’s intermediate I’m hopeful it will stop after my 4th and final cycle.

Thank you again for sharing. Wishing you well
