An anxious wait . . . is now back on again

Hi everyone,

Just a quick update, straight from the horses mouth, so to speak!

The specialist liver nurse has just rung to say that my latest MRI scan results have shown no new tumours!!!

Still the original three little blighters!

One of three has remained the same size, but the other two have slightly increased in size.

Next step is to have a PET scan (will need to look this up on here!) thought the nurse did explain it was like a CT scan only with glucose - I'm guessing to highlight markers elsewhere in the body?

If this scan is ok, liver resection and stoma reversal is next on the cards!

No timescales yet, but I'm wearing a smile as big as the sun today!

Thank you everyone for all your supportive messages during my 'anxious wait'

Love to you all, Jo xx

  • Hi Jo,

I was so sorry to read your latest post, can't imagine how long the wait for the weekend to finish must feel.  I really hope when you speak to the nurse tomorrow you can clarify things.  Am thinking of you and sending you strength to stay positive.  Please keep in touch when you can.  Hope x

  • Hi Jo,

I really am sorry to hear that you've had a weekend of worry, I hope you've been able to get a little more clarification from your nurse today.

I will keep everything crossed for you and I hope that the CT scan and results are done quickly for you. There really is no other worry like this as I'm sure most of us on this thread will agree with.

Keep your chin up, as you always seem to do, stay busy and update us when you can. We are all eager to hear further news.

Lots of hugs sent your way,

    Nicola xxx

  • Hi Jo

Have not been online for a few days (unfortunately had to stay in hospital) and only just seen your post.  I am so sorry to hear this and will keep my fingers crossed that it is just inflammation rather than anything more.  You must be worrying so much but remember to keep positive.  Worrying is something we all od but it does not change anything.

Fingers crossed and do let us know how you get on.

    Gill

  • Have pm'd you again Jo.

  • Hi Jo.

    Wow that's great news.

Your correct about the pet scan, I've had 1 or 2, they inject you with some sort of radioactive juice which shows up those scum bags.

You wait an hour, on your own in a cubicle, then they scan you, which of course is painless.

    Good luck my lovely

    Thinking of you

    Dor xx

  • Thanks Dor x great minds think alike, have just posted on your thread! xxxx

  • Hi Jo,

Was just thinking of you, I hope you are OK.  Hope x

  • The nosey Welshman hopes you are doing o.k. too.

  • Thank you everyone. As ever, I'm touched by the kindness of your thoughts, especially when you've all got your own things to cope with.

Garf, your nosiness is most welcome! You put up with my stalking often enough

Well folks, No news as yet. Had my latest CT scan last Thursday and was told it would be at least a week until the requesting consultant got the results.

In the meantime, I had a meeting with my colorectal surgeon last Monday and he mentioned another hotspot in my bowel at the site of surgery - he said he wasn't unduly worried about it. He also said the lung hotspots were really tiny! Fingers crossed its residual inflammation from chest infection!

My next 'photo shoot' is next Thursday - a barium X-ray to show whether my bowel surgery has any leaks (this will help bot doc to decide about stoma reversal op)

We're also having a new washing machine plumbed in that day, and I can't help but see the humour in this analogy!

Lets hope vast amounts of ptfe tape aren't required in either case

Enjoy the weekend sunshine, wherever you are!

Love and hugs to all you lovelies, xxxxx

  • Hi Jo,

Your reference to P.T.F.E tape made me smile but I just wanted to put your mind to rest.  As a building maintenance manager and font of all knowledge regarding all manner of repair techniques, I can safely advize you that vast quantities of P.T.F.E. tape, used in partnership with blue-tac and super glue, is capable of  fixing absolutely everything -- really!

As ever my thoughts and hopes will be with you this coming week.

    Garf. xxx
