Just feel so tired and drained
Hello Abessey
I'm so sorry to hear that you're feeling tired and drained by things at the moment. You mention in the title of your post that it's early days, and I know that for many people this initial period of diagnosis and treatment can be overwhelming at times.
If it would help to talk with one of our nurses about how you're feeling, you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. I know that they would be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can.
In the meantime, if you feel able to share a little more about your situation, hopefully you'll be able to connect with other Cancer Chat community members who understand.
Take care.

I started feeling unwell in December and was initially told it was haemmorhoids even though the pain was primarily in back passage. Fast forward after numerous visits to GP and hospital I have now been diagnosed with anal cancer. Biopsy was done under general anaesthetic, MRI and PET scan completed. For two months you just feel as if you are drifting. Dealing not only with your own fears and insecurities. But also family and friends. It’s also the implication on job security, finances and emotions. I think I will to contact one of the nurses as I feel I need to do this before I feel worse.
thank you
Hello Abessey
Thanks for sharing a little more about your circumstances. I'm sorry to hear that things have been so overwhelming for you. I hope that you are able to lean on the friends and family around you for support during this difficult time.
We have a few members here on the forum who have been through treatment for anal cancer. I can see that Danieo , princesa and Focus136 have all recently posted about this diagnosis and hopefully you'll be able to connect with others who have experience soon.
There is some information on the Macmillan website about cancer and employment rights that will hopefully give you some reassurance, along with information about benefits and financial support.
Do give our nurses a call next week. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice and support they can. It's also worth talking with your specialist cancer nurse to see what support options are available in your local area. It may be that there is a Maggie's centre local that you can visit or perhaps you can reach out to Penny Brohn to access some of their online support services.
Keep in touch Abessey and let us know how you get on. We're here for you.
Best wishes,
Jenn
