Treatment for advanced oesophageal cancer - does anyone know of any clinical trials? Surgery isn't an option and chemo hasn't worked.

After diagnosis of oesophageal cancer that had spread to liver were told surgery was not an option, and was given chemotherapy. After CT scan we were told it has not worked and no others will work, this left us feeling like "we can't help see you later" . No care plan was given and honestly felt just discarded,we looked at price of Dendritic therapy but can't afford that.Does anyone know of any clinical trials?.

  • A very warm welcome to the Cancer Chat community Witchy1, although I'm sorry to hear the chemo was unsuccessful. This must be a very difficult time.

You can find out more about clinical trials on our website, but for further information and advice you can give our cancer nurses a call on 0808 800 4040. Their helpline is open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will do all they can to support you and answer any other questions you may have at this time.

Hopefully some of our members who have contended with advanced oesophageal cancer will stop by soon to share their experiences with you but in the meantime, our thoughts are with you Witchy1 and we're sending all our strength and support your way.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
