CML & Chemo

I have CML I went into the blast phase was given less than 24hrs to live at one stage going down to 7 stone, I was on Imatinib then Nilotinib neither worked I'm now just starting on Asciminib but am worried what will happen if this one fails too. Has anyone had any similar experiences

  • Hi Venners,

Poor you it sounds like you had a really hard time going down to just 7 stone and being given less than 24hrs to live. It's such a shame that neither Imatinib nor Nilotinib worked and I hope that Asciminib will be effective and make a positive difference.

I hope that you will hear from others on the forum who have been diagnosed with asciminib and who have had similar experiences with this particular chemotherapy treatment. Asciminib is mentioned briefly on our website in our page on treatment options for chronic myeoloid leukaemia and Macmillan has detailed information on asciminib which you may find useful. You are also welcome to give our cancer nurses a call on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm and don't hesitate to get in touch with them if you would like to find out more about asciminib or if you have any other questions.

Fingers crossed that this drug causes no significant side effects and that it all goes much better for you this time than with the Imatinib or Nilotinib.

    Best wishes,
