I had a colonoscopy today and have been told I have cancer, will need a CT scan and then they will decide what happens next. I’m just trying to get my head round it and needed to get in touch with others. Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

Hi there, Beverley39, So very sorry you have had this diagnosis. I, too, received my rectal cancer diagnosis almost 3 weeks ago and it does indeed rock you to your core. All kinds of random thoughts until you know the plan and what you’re dealing with. I worry so much for my husband and (adult) children. They have been so brilliant but I know they must be in a whirl too. The waiting for scans etc is frustrating and scary but do please share your thoughts and fears because it helps so much. And treat yourself with kindness. Big virtual hugs to you and our community
Hi ManaC63 thank you for your message. It’s strange isn’t it how we find comfort in finding others in the same situation although we would not wish it on anyone. As you say it’s the wait that is the most difficult. I’ve got an appointment for a scan this Friday and then just have to wait to meet the team who will decide what happens next. We’re both lucky that we have support of family around us as I realise many don’t have this. I hope your treatment goes well. I’ll be thinking of you. Take care.
You are so right Beverley39, Good luck with your scan, too, and keep in touch. I hope that everyone can draw strength from this great forum. Take care.
