bladder wall thick after bcg

My husband has had 6 bcg and yesterday went for his bladder check to see if it was working. We were told that the bladder lining was thick so they took a biopsy. We are worried know because we were hoping they were going to say the cancer has gone and he could start his bcg top up in Oct. Any had this before. Please tell us your story.

Regards to all from Sylvie

  • No news is good news but I would get onto your nurse to chase up formal notification of the results Or check with your gp they get results electronically

  • I have phoned his cancer nurse multiple times and no one answers the phone.? The thing is Celia do i really wont to know the results of corse the answer to that is no but yes i do. If you know what i mean. It's 3 week tomorrow since his cystoscope and biopsy so surely it wont be much longer.? They say ignorance is bliss don't they. Off to make the tea shepherds pie for Ronnie prawn salad for me I don't eat red meat. Never have since i was allowed in the abattoir where my dad worked. not a pretty sight.

Take care till next time Love Sylvie xxx

  • I know how you feel it's awful please God you get the results of the biopsy soon Try the Gp ours was helpful but he retired  last year The rest of the bunch are as much use as chocolate fireguards Hang on in there xx

  • I always thought that the patient got a copy of the report sent to the doctors from the hospital.when you had tests done. Or am i wrong cos we have never had nothing since they found the one tumer and took it out and looked ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh wait a minuet. When they went in to do the cryptography they also took a biopsy of this whatever it was in the ureter. So this time they said they couldn't get into the ureter because the lining was thick. So that means the lining was not thick before the bcg. So something has caused the thickening after the bcg. What do you think. How could they get a biopsy the first time and not the second. Because the lining was thick the second time not the first. Maybe it is the bcg that has caused the lining to get thick and it wasn't like that in the first place. I  feel a bit happier know.

  • In the past we have had copies of letters after a consultation but we never seem to get them after tests or biopsies

Maybe the bcg has caused thickening  I dont know tho our nurse who did John's bcgs said it could make the bladder very angry and cause it to become inflamed

I would try your Gp or speak to.your consultant's secretary and ask if you can have a telephone consultant or an early appt

     Lots of love

  • I will have a look tomos xx

  • Hello Celia and John just to say good luck for tomorrow we hope all goes well. Let me know how it goes. Still no news here. I have been trying to find out who is the person that tells you you have the all clear and will be going ahead with the 3 top ups. Is it the cancer nurse or are you called in to see the consultant ? also if it is the all clear is it 3 months after the last 6 BCG. that you get the top up or how long after the cystoscope.

    Take care
