Waiting on breast biopsy results

Im waiting on breast biopsy results, i get them on monday, the waiting is just dreadful, sometimes your gut feeling tells you what you know but this time i just dont know! Anyone feel or felt the same?

  • It's time like these Karen when we all need a shoulder heat to chat if you need a shoulder hope I can reassure you same as I say I am a breast cancer survivor of 20 years and my diagnosis now is not connected so there's definitely a light at the end of that dark tunnel just hang on there x

  • Morning

Well one day to go, its just the unknown that scares you the most and hearing the big C word how do you deal with it, they have saw something and i hope at most its a radial scar that i can deal with, and on the other hand it may be something that's just to be left alone, its just the not knowing and now im just dreading it but hopefully its not as bad as i think, thank you for your support

    Hi Karen,

We nearly all tend to think the worst at this stage. Fortunately, this seldom happens, but our minds tend to run away with us while we are waiting. 'It is not cancer until you are told that it is' and, if it is, you will deal with it because you have to. None of us want a cancer diagnosis, but this is one of the most treatable form of cancer these days.

Thumper has had 20 years since diagnosis and I have had 12, despite 2 bouts of breast cancer. She looks great in her picture and, I expect that, like me she is leading a busy and fulfilled life.

Here'shoping that it is just scar tissue. Just remember that we are always here for you.

Hoping and praying for good news.

    Hi Karen,

Sorry, I missed this post. When you go for your results you will usually be seen by the consultant, who will have a breast care nuse with him/her. The consultant will give you the results and if it is cancer, will discuss any treatment. You will usually the have time to chat with the nurse, who will give you a folder with information on cancer, treatments, pathology, etc.

If you have any questions, write them down before you go, as you are likely to forget something important in the heat of the moment. Most questions won't come to you until you know your results.

I hope that all goes well.

    Regards,

    Jolamine xx

    Hi Machrie,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

It is always a worry when you are told this on the first visit. This has happened to me on three occasions in the past 12 years. Fortunately, on one occasion the consultant was mistaken and the lump was benign. However, on the other 2 he was correct.

I am glad to see that you don't have much longer to wait as the wait really is agony. Please let us know how you get on on Tuesday and, remember that we are always here for you.

    Kind regards,
    Jolamine xx
