Has anyone had similar symptoms?

I have been having some issues with my tongue since the start of the year. It started of quite painful down the left side of my tongue, I visited the doctor followed by the dentist who said nothing was wrong(apart from gingivitis). I went away and my symptoms started to fade away but were still there. I have since been to the dentist twice and my GP who have no concerns about my tongue as I was worried I may have tongue cancer. What I'm more worried about is I still have these odd sensations down the left side of my tongue, like a dry feeling but on on the side, sometimes a tingly feeling. This is nowhere near as bad as it was when it all first started, I wake up most mornings it isn't there but by the evening it's stronger than the whole day. The doctor basically told me to live with it! What on earth could it be? I'm getting frustrated and I feel like I can't go back to the dentist or doctor as they are just going to think I'm crazy! When I saw my dentist last week she was adamant nothing was wrong and she saw no signs of cancer. I felt good but I think my anxiety is playing up again and I can't shift the bad feeling there's something wrong. Sorry for the long post I just don't know what else to do! X

  • Hello there again, I just thought I would give you an update on my latest ENT appt and how i've been. So I went to see the ENT on Jun 7th and he spent quite a long time with me, looked at my previous scans and then also did a repeat Laryngoscopy up the nose down the throat and said everything looked fine and did not see anything sinister going on in my throat. He looked in my mouth, ears, and nose with a light and then at some point during our conversation he said he would examine my tongue with a gloved hand pulling it all around which makes some people gag and said thats why he likes to save that for last. Anyway, we continued to talk at great length about my symptoms and the PPI dose I was on and then next steps if my symptoms don't improve would be to go to a GI doc and have an endoscopy althought he felt sure my symptoms are all reflux related. So I got home and realized he did not do the tongue exam at the end like he said. So me being me with anxiety... I decide to get a flash light and look all around my mouth and I notice on the right side where my papillae foliate are it looks like they are a little red and bigger bumps there maybe 2-3 and the left side they arent really that big so not exactly symmetrical. Now here I am again, sick with worry about it. The only thing is all my "reflux" symptoms with burning mouth, tongue and lump in my throat is all on the left side. Right side is all completely normal except these couple of little reddish papillae foliate that look bigger on that side. I have a dentist appt on August 1st. I can't get in sooner than that. He normally does an oral cancer screen when I get my teeth cleaned and the last time I was in was May of 2021 so about 13 months ago. These little bumps could have always been there I just don't know! It's driving me mad with worry though, and I recall from your previous thread you mentioned your papillae foliate. Did you ever find anything out about that? Do yours look similar where one side is bigger, bumpier than the other? Thanks for your help and reply! Hope you are well!
