Lump on arm

Hi, 5 months ago i started noticing a painless lump on my arm which has grow alot over time. I have been visiting my doctor who referred me for an ultrasound scan the results came back unclear. Today I was sent to see a orthopedic specialist who has said he is also unsure what it could be and has said I need to get an MRI scan (which will be another few weeks before this comes through) i am worried incase it is somthing serious has anyone else experienced anything like this?

  • Hi both

I have been reading your posts

i hope you are both well

i also have a lump in my upper arm just below my elbow, the consultant who sent me for the MRI said that the lump was in my muscle, it's the size of a golf ball and has grown over time.

i had my MRI on Thursday and I am now waiting on the results, what was the outcome for both of your lumps?
Are you lumps also in your muscle?

    thanks Tracie

  • Hi

I have just been going through your posts as I am going through the exact same.

I went to my gp July 2020 with a lump under my skin that was getting bigger I was told all is ok nitbibg sinister in it, didn't see me face to face just a photo. By January 2021 I now had a lump on the outside of my skin that basically looked like a solid blister so went to gp who then refered me to dermatrologist. I had the lump removed there and then at my first appointment and consultant said he thought it was basal cell carcinoma and it would be sent away for testing.

two weeks after this I then had a phone call to say that basically it's a strange one abd it was now been sent to a sarcoma MDT for a second look. By this point after Googling I was beside myself been 31 and 2 young children. I then got told that I needed to go for a ct scan (which I had last week) but still have no idea what this lump is, they have said a suspected melanoma and a suspected type of sarcoma but they are carrying out more tests. 7 long weeks and I still don't know what is going on. Hilton to have results this week, but don't know if ct results will have to go back to mdt!

I would love to know the outcomes of other people's situation if you know yet.

    thaks

I'll let you know know how I get on.

  • Morning all

an update from me, I received a phone call yesterday from the consultant who sent me for the MRI.

the consultant has now sent my MRI to a specialist hospital.

he said it was definitely not a fatty lump and when I asked if it could be cancer he said it's a slim chance.

He said the hospital will contact me in the next few days.

    stay strong all of you

    Traice

  • Hi Tracie

Hope you're ok & Thanks for the update.  Have you had any further news & what does he mean by specialist hospital?

ive got my Consultant appointment over phone this morning following the MRI I had done 2 weeks ago.

I'm hoping for some answers today - I'll update later.

    Take care

  • Hi all

I've had the all clear from my MRI - no further action need - it was a lipoma after all - it's taken 6 months to get to this final diagnosis which has felt like a lifetime but it does show that just because they continue to investigate, which is worrying at the time, it doesn't always mean a negative outcome, so hang on in there!

just want to say thanks for the support on here & I wish all of you the very best.

As Tracie said - stay safe & stay strong

  • Wow what a relief for you, I am happy for you

sorry I never replied sooner but it did not tell me if anyone has put a message onto this feed.

I had a biopsy taken last Wednesday 31st March  and should hear the results with in 10 to 14 days.

I did name the specialist hospital on my post above but someone from cancer uk research edited it so I assume I can't name the hospital.

  • Hi Tracie

Thanks for your kind message - yes it is a huge relief!

Got my fingers & toes crossed for you - please let me know what your biopsy results say.

    Thinking of you

    A x

  • Hi there,

thanks I've found a lump which is rubbery but doesn't move does that mean it's got more chance of being cancerous?
hope you are all staying strong.
