Slight dent on breast

Hi All,

Iv brought myself to this sight as have a slight dent in my left breast , and a tinier /fainter one next to it ,

im quiet pale skinned so is quiet difficult to actually see unless your looking , as the saying goes blink & you’d miss it !! I noticed it when I was out of the shower standing infront of the mirror when I was throwing Cos a towel over my head , I raised my arms and seen it , I had to turn rocks different angles to actually get sight of  it as it’s kinda near the under of my breast , I thought absolutely nothing of it at all brushed it off , and then heard a lady talk of how her BC was diagnosed from her finding a tiny dent on her breast so i double chencked mine and yep was still there , I have slight pain to the left near my underarm but nothing Iv been concerned about previously,

seen my GP yesterday, she couldn’t see it too but no lump , however she’s referred me to the Breast Clinic said id Get am Appt within 2 weeks but they actually rang me @ 8am this morning & my Appt is for this coming monday ,

My Husband is coming with me ,

im not too sure how I feel , iv been worried & nervous & then telling myself it’s only a strech Mark even though I can see thst its not , Iv taken photos of it to show them incase they don’t come see what I can,

I have family history of BC as my sister who’s now 48 was diagnosed with BC when she was age 42, that was 6 yrs ago,

im the youngest im 43 ,

we lost our mam to Lymphoma 2 yrs ago ,

and have Lost 2 brothers to Heart Attacks 3 yrs & 2 yrs ago ,

My other sister was diagnosed last year with Bowel cancer (she’s fine now too thank god) & my Dad was diagnosed with skin cancer 6 yrs ago too ,

Quiet the Family History I know !! ️

Just want to know If any other ladies on here have found the same thing ?

Im so sorry that anyone is on this site , what awful things life throws at us ,

sorry for the long winded post

  • Hi ladies, so glad I have come across this thread. I also have found an indent on my nipple. I managed to go in and see the GP and he also saw the indent. His exact words to me was that I have very lumpy breasts which 10% of women also have, he can't tell if they are '' normal lumps '' so I've been referred to the local breast unit. What he also said he can't feel anything behind the indent which points to the breast being pulled in by a tumour. Hey I guess only time will tell, I'm 35 and a single mum to 2 amazing boys. Xx

    Hi Charlotte,

Welcome to our forum. I am sorry to hear about your symptoms. It is not unusual to have lumpy breasts, but I hope that your GP is wrong about a tumour.

You will usually be seen at the breast clinic within 2 weeks from the date of your referra, although this can be delayed a little at the moment due to the Covid 19 pandemic. I expect that you will find this all very scary at the moment. This is  normal. We can also feel very emotional at this time.

I hope that you get your appointment through soon and that tests reveal good news for you. Please let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Charlotte,

how have you got on if you don't mind me asking?
I have noticed a dimple on my areola just below my right nipple too, funny think is that it only is really visible when I'm wearing a bra and "pull my boob up out of the bra" I'm seeing the GP on Tuesday and I'm a bit nervous, covid has sent my anxiety into overdrive!!
    xx

  • Hi there.. I am just new to this I have just read your story about having a dent on your breast I have noticed yest when going into the shower that I have one.. seen the gp yest and have been referred for breast screening... what was the outcome of your situation

    love a worried mum of 3 X

  • Hi Amyclare19 I hope you are well!

I also feel like I have a slight dent on my left areola - however it's only there when I actually hold my breast up (so sorry for the tmi ) when I let go and my breast is normal the dent is no longer there - I must say though my breasts are larger. I really feel like it's my eyes playing tricks on me bcos it's so difficult to tell!

Due to the pandemic it's so difficult to get a GP appt as they are only doing telephone calls. I've spoken to her a few times regarding my breasts and she does not seem too concerned as I am also 21. I really don't know if I should contact my GP again.

    thank you x

  • Hi, I hope you are ok! did you manage to get an appt with your go about the dent when you lifted up your breast? I have the same and can't find any info on the internet, mine is also only when lifted but my breast is also really sore.

    thanks x

  • Hi I’m really worried I check my breast regular especially since my mom and was diagnosed with breast cancer I lay down and raised my arm above my head and noticed on my right breast I have a very big dent in top of my breast but only noticed when lying down don’t notice sitting up right can’t feel no lumps I’m really scared right now

  • Hey I have the exact same thing. The doctors said they couldn't see it & referred me too but they said it was nothing & just brushed it off. I have been twice & i feel like they don't take it serious because they can't see it I feel like I should go back again because I always get a slight achy feeling in it but how many times can I keep going back for them to not do anything about it

  •

    Hi Berryx,

A very warm welcome to our forum. I doubt that the breast clinic would have missed finding anything untoward at the time you attended. Did they examine you and did they do any further tests at the time? If it's of any consolation, pain seldom accompanies a cancer diagnosis and, these are often more due to hormonal changes than anything else.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
