Terminal bile duct cancer

Hi,

looking for anyone who has experience or knowledge about this cancer, my husband who is 45 has just found out recently after becoming jaundice that he had bile duct cancer and advanced and spread to liver, we met oncologist last week and said it was probably stage 3 but he said it can't be removed because of where cancer is! So surgery isn't an option, he then said that it os terminal and prognosis with chemo might give  him 6-12 months!!! I can't get my head round it all!! He is fit and healthy, was never ill apart from jaundice!! Any help would be great i.e. Palliative chemo

thanks amy

  • Thank you

ok so hubby now has the doctors even more baffled, not only has he gained more weight but the Jaundice has gone away on its own!!! They didn’t need to fit a stent, they took photos & biopsies & diagnosed a Klatskin tumour, the consultant says there is confusion, well if he is confused how on earth are we supposed to feel?? Next appointment is this coming Friday when we will find out more, I can’t stand all this waiting & in everything I’ve read I never once came across anyone who’s Jaundice went away on its own. He has no other symptoms apart from the weight loss & as I say, he is now gaining weight. All very strange. I’m still holding on to the hope they can remove it.

    much love hun xxx

    thank you x

  • My father in law passed in hospice with my husband, his mum and brother by his Dads side at 7.10am this morning. He fought hard to the end and will be so sadly missed.  Xx

  • My mother (80) diagnosed with bile duct cancer stage 4  I'm doing everything to find cure so far Immunotherapy has become my only hope but doctors are denying treatment because of her age I don't know what to do to save my mother.. to her age she is fit and well there is no sign of jaundice we went to hospital for her lungs infection and during CT scan they discovered she got this cancer which has spread from liver to lungs and around her Bailly I'm so stressed scared and worried I'm praying all the time if there is someone who can help me to find cure for my mother

  • I am so sorry to hear of your mothers diagnosis . As far as I am aware at this moment in time and at stage 4 there is no cure for bile duct cancer if it cannot be removed. Just have to do the best you can to give her the nicest life she has left with you.

  • This is so positive and welcome. Thank you for sharing Bob C. How are you doing? My cousin is the same in his 60s just recently diagnosed and in so much pain. Fingers crossed his story is similar to yours and he will also become pain free

  • Hi Bob,

So sorry about your diagnosis. But so pleased to hear you're doing well. Keep the spirit high.

Would you be able to give your best tips with diet which vitamin shots to take etc ? My mother in law had been also diagnosed with stg4.

  • Hi, hope you're doing well.
