Penile Cancer

Does anyone here have personal or close experience of penile cancer. I have had it, and last year had radical penectomy and groin node removal, then pelvic nodes followed by radio and chemotherapy.  Treatments finished in January. So still only nine months ago.  I wonder if anyone else has been in this position and could let me know how they are doing physically and mentally.  perhaps you are just starting the journey, ask away..

  • Hi, I'm posting here in the hope of getting some sound information. I recently visited my GP after noticing a very small area of skin on the head of my penis that is ever so slightly darker and more raised than the surrounding skin. The doctor had a look and said it was probably fungal and not penile cancer. He prescribed Clotrimazole cream and told me to apply it three times a day for two weeks. Now two weeks have passed and the area of skin looks exactly the same as it did when I saw the GP. I feel like I've wasted two weeks and can't help wondering if it is actually penile cancer. I've been frantically googling to try and find something that looks the same, but the internet seems to be full of more extreme images and horror stories. Nowhere can I find pictures of the very earliest signs of skin change on the head of the penis. Why is that? Why are all the pictures so hideous? Surely penile cancer starts out as a very minor skin irritation? Surely it would be a good idea to have pictures of the earliest indications on the internet for men to compare with? It's highly frustrating. I desperately want to know that what is on my penis is not cancer. Please can someone explain - if pictures are not possible - exactly what occurs on the penis when penile cancer first develops? Thank you.

  • Hi I am new here and I got diagnosed with penile-cancer 4 weeks ago. I gave up seeing the doctor years ago because just to told its thrush. One side of the head of my would go a dark red colour. This would come and go. I have a patch about the size of a thumb nail near the head on the foreskin this look like the skin was shaved though the top layer of skin. In the new year I found a blister/Wart 5mm round started on my foreskin were the graze is. I rang my GP to be told to go to the STD clinic, who tested me for everything and as a precaution started me on acyclovir. Test  results cane back negative and I was told worst case scenario was pre cancer. Biopsy done and when results came back an immediate referral as I have pre cancerous tissue and cancerous tissue present. I joined a Facebook group called "penile cancer awareness and support" which although scary and rather negative. Made me aware of another page  "Screamingcockerel" where I found my first photos of axactly what mine look like. It documents the life of a guy who diagnosed with penile cancer and tried to make others aware. You may have to scroll through a few months posts but at least there are photos and advice available. My advice is do not give up till your happy with your results. Go to the STD clinic tomorrow they are more aware of this problem, see a urologist.. Mine says he has a 90% success rate at curing penile cancer and although I'm having surgery in a couple of weeks, it's better than the alternative. Good luck
