mikeb1949 - chemotherapy with low lung volumes

Hi everyone I’ve recently been diagnosed with non small lung cancer

,believe it’s a fairly early stage 1/2

I am due to have chemotherapy on the 15th

Unfortunately I have a low lung capacity around 28% due to emphysema so I can’t have surgery

My question is has anybody had chemotherapy with low lung volumes

just wondered how you got on with your breathing.

Many thanks for any replies Mike

  • Hi Mike,

A warm welcome to Cancer Chat - I am sorry to hear about your recent  lung cancer diagnosis but it's good that it seems to have been caught at an early stage. It's a shame that you are not able to have surgery due to your low lung capacity and I hope that the chemotherapy treatment will go well for you. You will find information on our website on treatment options for non small cell lung cancer and we also have a section on chemotherapy for lung cancer

I hope that you will hear from members of our community who have had chemotherapy for lung cancer even though they had low lung volumes and they will hopefully share their personal experiences  of how they got on with their breathing.

We have a team of nurses available on this free number 0808 800 4040 to answer any questions you might have so don't hesitate to give them a call Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm if there is anything you would like to talk through with them.

    Best wishes,
