Older lady with persistent cough, hoarseness in my voice

So for a few weeks now I've had this persistent cough, hoarseness in my voice, difficulty catching my breath and swelling to right side of my neck, extreme tiredness, loss of appetite. I went to see my asthma nurse on Friday who said my peak flow was very low. She listened to my lungs and said there's definitely wheezing on left middle lobe.
I've been having wegovy injections for weight loss and apparently one of the side effects can be thyroid cancer. My symptoms seem to fit and I do feel unwell... I've messaged gp surgery for urgent appt as I can't cope with a and or out of hours as I have high functioning autism. I'm only 62 and otherwise been fit although classed as obese. Monday seems such a long time away. Has anyone been diagnosed and if so how quickly am I likely to be referred etc?

  • Oh, she spoke to the gp who said just increase my Trimbow inhaler and if no better in a week make an appointment

  • Hello BIchouk

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently had some health concerns. I hope that you were able to get in touch with your GP surgery today to arrange an appointment. Hopefully they will be able to give you some reassurance when you speak with your doctor.

If it would help to talk things through with one of our nurses for some advice and support you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

    Best wishes,
