Hello, diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer yesterday

Hi everyone,

I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer yesterday, and feel so overwhelmed I was wondering if anyone has been through something similar and can offer any advice -

Thank you :-)

  • I think you’ll feel better once you’ve got a course of treatment laid out in front of you.  Also, many people find waiting for results is the worst part of the process; so now you’ve got the major result out of the way, you may gradually feel better too.

it’s not easy but there are lots of fantastic and effective treatments out there, so cancer is not necessarily the shock / horror story that it used to be.

For instance, I had 16 rounds of chemotherapy but didn’t experience any sickness.  Some people do though , so everyone’s experience is different.  Don’t assume that all the challenges that other people face are going to happen to you.

I would suggest that when you see your consultant go in with a list of questions and if possible take someone with you to be a second pair of ears.

Dont be afraid to ask for help / admit that you’re scared or upset.  Medical staff will have seen it all before…

There will be loads of little tips that you will pick up along the way that will make things easier for you eg if you wear a cold cap during chemo bring an extra jumper as otherwise you feel very cold.

    Hope that helps!
