New here

Hello

i am new to this group and am so glad that there is somewhere like this to post.

my dad is 83 and is in hospital with a urine infection which he has had several scans for we were eventually told last week that he has bladder cancer which has spread to the lower lung we were told he was to have more scans to see how far it has spread I feel devastated I’m not sure if he has taken the information in waiting for these scan results is unbearable and the lack of information from the hospital is painful and makes me feel very angry.

  • Hello Penguin2013

I'm sorry to hear that your Dad is currently in hospital and that investigations have shown that he has advanced bladder cancer. It's naturally a difficult time for you all and understandable that you may be feeling a rollercoaster of emotions at the moment.

We know that for many people the wait for scans, tests and results can be particularly difficult. Waiting can be frustrating at the best of times but I hope that you feel your Dad is being well cared for while he's in hospital. If you have concerns about his care then you can always contact the hospital PALS team. It's part of their role to help resolve concerns or problems when you're using the NHS.

If there's anything you'd like to talk through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can.

I do hope that you get some answers about the next steps for your Dad soon. Let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
