First visit after biopsies

Dear All, I am due to go to my first appointment on Thursday to discuss my biopsy results etc. I have since found out it is the surgeon that I am seeing.  I have already been told to prepare for a cancer diagnosis which I am slowly accepting. Is it normal to see a surgeon on your first visit. Part of me is actually relived as I just want to get on with treatment. xxx

  • Hi Sparkleandshine,

Most cancers are fed by oestrogen and these will respond to hormone therapy to block the oestrogen - this is good news. It is not so good to hear that it has spread to your lymph nodes, but you will know the full extent of this after you have your scan

I have had both a lumpectomy and a double mastectomy and I found the mastectomies far easier to cope with than the lumpectomy. I do hope that you can go ahead with yours before Christmas. I am delighted to hear that you found your care team so empathic and I hope that this continues throughout your cancer journey.

Please keep in touch. Remember that we are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thank you so much for your message, should I be concerned that it has spread to my lymph nodes as I thought this was common xxx
