Highlandwoman - any tips on how to stay positive after finding out you have stage 4 cancer?

Hi there, new to this forum and just reaching out to others who may be further down their journey. Am 54 and was diagnosed with stage 4a ovarian cancer in November. Had a hysterectomy which was complicated by a bowel obstruction and am now on weekly chemo for 17 weeks. People keep saying the most important thing is to stay positive but am finding that really hard. Any tips on how to achieve this would be appreciated xx

  • Hiya Highlandwoman.  It isn't always easy to be positive with advanced cancer is it?  Friends and family are well meaning when they tell you to be positive, but they are not walking in your shoes and they don't truly understand what it is like.  For me personally, the hardest time is when I am sometimes awake at 3 or 4 in the morning......that's when the negative thoughts and fears start running around my brain. During the day I am fine.  Have you tried ringing the MacMillan support line?  The number is:  0808-808-0000.  I am sure that they will be able to help you and support you.  Good luck, x
