  • Hello Zedden and a warm welcome to Cancer Chat,

I am so sorry to hear both your parents have been diagnosed with lung cancer just 3 weeks apart. This is really sad and unfortunate and I can imagine there is a a lot of uncertainty around you at the moment as you are trying to figure out what is going on and what stages they are at. It can be hard to be in limbo waiting to gather all the information and having to go through this twice for both parents at the same time must be unbearably hard.

But you are doing the right thing in taking one day at a time even though there are some days when it is really hard to live in the moment without anticipating or fearing the worst. It must be really hard for your parents to have been hit by cancer and I hope they are managing to support one another during these difficult times and I bet it is comforting to them to know that you are there for them and that they value your support.

The long wait for PET scan results and lymph node biopsy results can be a truly anxious time and I wanted to share with you our helpful tips to help you cope while waiting for news. You are not alone and I have encountered before on this forum other members who had the misfortune of having two parents diagnosed with cancer at the same time. I hope others who are in a similar situation will be along shortly to share their experience with you.

We're thinking of you during this difficult time and hope that you find out more soon about what the treatment plan might be for your parents.

    Best wishes,
