Anyone starting chemo next month (Feb 2023)?

Hi there,

Attempting to start a thread for people starting chemo like me next month.

I'm starting EC Chemo after having had my breast cancer removed - 4 rounds every 3 weeks, starting on Friday 3rd Feb.

Anybody in a similar situation and wants to join the chat so that we can support each other, would be amazing.

Sending love and light to everyone.

  • Yes do keep in touch stay positive x

  • Thank you D!

All went smoothly and was totally fine. As always, the fear and anticipation is actually worse than the event!

Feeling a bit woozy but apart from that I'm okay so far. Lots of anti-sickness meds to take, which I'm grateful for! I was there from 930-130, so having a book and downloaded shows really helped. And sipping water was the best thing I could've done - so please do that.

I'll let you know how the next few days go. I know how scared I was feeling all week and it was realy for nothing, so I hope you're able fo take some comfort in that X

  • Oh you have definitely put my mind at rest, I've been nervous all week!

im glad your feeling ok, hopefully it continues let me know.

I've got my books ready and will take water and snacks as have a feeling I'll be there a bit longer with using the cold cap...well if I can tolerate it! We'll see.

well your 1st one done and your on your way to getting them finished now. I'll let you know how I get on xxxx

  • I'm actually really annoyed at how scared I was all week - I cried every day this week just from fear, and it was genuinely nowhere near as bad as I had in my head. Our minds are our own worst enemies.

Snacks is a great idea too, I did the same. And the other thing that really helped me was asking my friend to collect me and bring me home. It actually felt easier than having my husband/sister/mum/dad because she just made me laugh, got my mind off things, made me lunch! Whereas my husband and family is just as worried as me which is totally understandable but it isn't helpful!

You'll be in longer with the cold cap but everyone I saw that had the caps were happy, so that also might be better than we are imagining in our heads!

I'll let you know how I get on over the weekend. Do as much stuff that gives you joy this week xxx

  • Good morning how are you feeling ?just wrote you a nice long tex.  went to edit it then lost it.   Lol. Rest and stay positive x

  • How kind of you. Thank you for asking.

I'm feeling okay. The infusion was not as bad as I had feared and the tiredness and nausea are there but very manageable because the drugs are magic! It's just overwhelming trying to remember what to take and when, but my husband has taken charge of that, which helps.

I only got about 3hrs sleep though, which is not going to be good for me! I suspect it's the drugs so I'm going to ask the team for some sleeping pills or something. Hard to function on little sleep when I've got a vibrant 4 year old son!

So in general I'm okay. But I have heard it can hit you on day 3 for a few days, so I'm preparing to spend more time in bed from tomorrow. But let's see.

Did you have a similar experience?

    Take care. X

  • I always took my self to bed in the afternoon hope you have help with your little boy try to eat little and often have what ever you like  lots of protein drinks.  Banana milk shake was a favourite x

  • Hi Michelle

I've had 2 lots of my weekly Paclitaxel now and am ok, bit of a upset stomach and face is a little red and blotchy but all manageable. 2 down and 10 to go...feels like forever!
