TNBC

Hello hopefully someone can put my mind at rest,I have a lump removed in my breast and a few lymph nodes removed from my armpit.I finished chemo a year ago now.I went too see my surgeon as my armpit was hurting a bit and felt so tight,he says it was the scar tissue.A few weeks after under my arm it went very red and hot, also was swollen they said I have an infection and I'm on antibiotics now,I had to have a biopsy and they saw a mass under my arm,now I'm worried it's come back.Has anyone else experienced this.

  • Hi Fifa,

I am so sorry to hear this.

I haven't had the same bother. but I did discover a lump in the same breast less than a year after I had a lumpectomy. This turned out to be a second cancer. That was 13 years ago and I am still leadindg busy and fulfilling life.

Here's hoping that this turns out to be an infection and nothing more. There will be swelling along with infection, so this might give the appearance of a mass.

The waiting time to find out is always stressful. Have you got a date for your biopsy yet?

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi yes I had a biopsy yesterday,I now have to wait 10 days for the results,it's the waiting game I find difficult.

  • Hi Fifa,

I'm glad to hear that you've already had your biopsy.

We all find the waiting time one of the most difficult of our cancer journey. Try to keep yourself as preoccupied and busy as you can and stay away from Google. Much of the information there is poorly researched, out of date, aimed at the more spectacular cases and will only serve to scare the daylights out of you.

Anyone who has had a cancer diagnosis has the fear of recurrence and this is something that we all have to cope with. However, it is scary when other symptoms return so soon after treatment.

We are always here to chat with you. Please let us know when your results come back.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thankyou so much for your reply,I am going out of my mind I have been googling everything which I will now stop, the second time around did you have chemo again

  • No I didn't have chemo either time. Mine is a rare form of cancer (Pure Mucinous), which is supposed to be less aggressive. Did you have problems with chemo last time?

  • No I didn't I had 6 months of chemo, then radiotherapy then the op and 6 months of oral chemo,I saw my surgeon 2weeks ago because my armpit the scar tissue was tight and uncomfortable,he felt it and said there was not a problem.2 weeks after my armpit was red, swollen and painful, had scan they thought it was an abscess, then she took a biopsy because she saw a mass and wasn't sure what it was.
