Docetaxel nails sore and lifting

Hi.

Does anyone have any help or advice regarding nails.

I had bc so had 3 x EC & 3 x Docetaxel. I had my last one 1st march. After the first docetaxel my nails were painful and very sensitive for a week.  Then i started to notice the white bits being bigger.  I'm now 10 weeks post last treatment and my nails are awful.  Half of each nail has raised from the nail bed and the other half where new growth is, has lines and ridges and is really painful.

I thought they were getting better and growing out, then the last few days both my thumb nails separation has spread to nearly ⅔of the nail.

It is so uncomfortable and painful.  I literally have trouble doing everything!

I put handcream on a gazillion times a day, wear rubber gloves, eat cubes of jelly and used opi nail envy.

Has anyone else had this and what did you do? How long did it last?

Thanking you in advance

  • Hi, I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems with your nails, it must be so uncomfortable for you. I started using a product called polybalm, before starting my chemo, which apparently helps prevent damage to nails. I'm  not sure if this helps with any damage that has already been caused. If you go onto the polybalm website, you can contact them to ask questions. I have sent questions on several occasions and they responded very quickly. The results shown from the trials looked good, which is why I started using this product. You can also look them up on YouTube for information, which I found to be really informative. I hope this is of some help to you. X

  • Thank you so much for your reply.  I will have a look at that site.

I know it must be a real common thing but I just can't find much info out there for anything that would help.

    Thanks again
