sister has very recently been diagnosed with a brain tumour

hello,

My sister was diagnosed with a brain tumour a week ago, and had it removed 5 days ago. It was the size of a golfball, and grew from the outside of her brain inwards, and was located above her right ear.It was brain matter that formed the tumour. She doesnt have any other tumours, its a primary brain tumour.

She has been called back in to speak to the surgeon tomorrow, when we find out what type of tumour/cancer it is, although we have been told its likely cancerous.

The surgeon was initially pleased with the operation, thinks he removed all of it,but cannot be certain.

My sister is an emotional mess, and we are all trying to support her.

I am quite aware of medical type issues, but so far havent googled anything, and just take in the regular updates she gives, and as they come, because i get too scared for me and her.

My sister wants me to attend all of her appointments, as i will understand and remember what she is told.

Whats likely to happen next?

Thanks

  • i spent years trying different excercise to control my stress and depression. tried all sorts, but ultimately didnt work, as id get to obsessed with it, do too much, and start producing too much adrenaline, which undid all the benefit, and made it worse. light excercise, where you dont get your heart pumpimg too muh or too long, seemed best. now do just 15 mins of sun salutations morning and night. get a calm glow from it afterwards, skin becomes very relaxed. imagine it calms and flushes body fluids/chemicals. tai chi is even better.relaxes muscles, particulary stomach muscles, which improves digestion, immume system etc. key is to do it daily if you can, make it habitual, and font focus on it, just something to get out of the way each day.

  • Hi Parmz

Thanks for some suggestions on the diet and exercise.

I think you are right listening to body is best and that way we know whatever we are trying to change is working or not.

I'm on low carb diet for a week now and I don't see any difference in my body, sleep, energy levels, cravings etc. I am going to keep eating this way until I find it hard to follow or it shows obvious discomfort.

My food list are omushrooms, eggs, cheese, avocados, almonds, Salmon, cauliflower, Brocolli, butter.

Since I'm not working now i make my own food ever u day and it is easier to make the meal as I want as per the macros.

I do a bit of walking say 40 mins for my son's school runs. I want to keep this going and see how my radiotherapy treatment goes.

One question - Can the radiologist see the cells growing or dying % everyday during the course of 6 weeks of Radiotherapy?

    Regards

    K
