Husband diagnosed with oesophageal cancer. Waiting for results of further tests that have been carried out on biopsies they took 2 weeks ago. Feel in limbo

My hubby has just been diagnosed with oesophagus cancer. They don't know what type yet they are doing further tests on the biopsies they took 2wks ago. We have been told there is a raised lymph node in his neck that is 'concerning' His PET scan is next week & awaiting appointment for ultrasound & biopsies on his lymph node.

He currently has a NG tube  & morphine driver.

We feel like we are in limbo at the moment as we really expected the definitive results from the original biopsies .As it is, it could be another 3wks before knowing exactly what we are fighting.

Is it usual to be waiting so long for results.
