REDNESS IN BREAST

I have found sore redness at the bottom of my left breast. I have been to GP who thinks it is a breast infection. He examined my breasts and could find no lumps or other abnormalities. He had given me an antibiotic co-amoxicolv. I had been on another antibiotic fluoxcillian which I only finished last week due to a dog bite but doctor was aware of this. I am scared if this infection does not clear and if it turns out to be something more.

  • Hello AnnaLynna

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently had some concerns about your breast health. You've done exactly the right thing in seeing your GP and it's good to hear that he didn't have any immediate concerns about the redness.

Hopefully the new antibiotics are starting to improve things but it's important to complete the full course. If things haven't fully resolved once you've completed the medication, do get back in touch with your GP for further advice and support.

It's understandable that you're worried about this but try to keep in mind that the majority of people who have breast health concerns, and are seen by specialists, are not diagnosed with cancer.

I hope that things settle and improve for you soon.

    Best wishes,
