Following your advice I went to my GP and she has referred me to the Breast Clinic . I have a red patch with small blisters on my breast scar. Can cancer return to a Diep breast? It does seem enlarged too
I'm sorry you are worried about some new changes in your DIEP reconstruction scar, and I am glad you followed my colleague's advice and saw your GP.
Breast cancer can sometimes come back in a reconstructed breast, including a DIEP flap, but this is not common and is called a local recurrence.
As my colleague Celene mentioned, that these changes most commonly turn out to be harmless side effects caused by cancer treatments or something less serious such as infection, dermatitis, or fat necrosis.
