Breast Cancer Symptoms?

Two weeks ago I started with a burning pain in my right breast when I got up in the morning or if I exert myself in anyway. I felt my breasts and found a small, squishy lump at the side of my nipple. My breast tissue has also thickened quite a bit which is why the second lump wasn’t found at first as it’s underneath the hard tissue.

ive been feeling really fatigued at times over the past few months. Had some sweats and changes in my periods which I thought might be perimenopause starting, I’m 41. I have also noticed pain at times down my right arm and I’ve been struggling with my grip for quite some time. I’m booked in at the breast clinic next Wednesday but wondering if all these symptoms could be related to anything else apart from cancer. Thank you x

  • Hello and thanks for posting

I’m sorry you are worried about some breast and other symptoms and can appreciate how stressful this can be. Symptoms can have a number of different causes, and most thankfully won't be the result of cancer. So, try if you can not to over think things too much until you know more, although I know this is easier said than done.

The majority of breast lumps are harmless, but they need to be checked out to be sure. I see that you are going to be seen at the breast clinic next week. The majority of people referred to the breast clinic do not have breast cancer. The charity Breast Cancer Now has information on what to expect when you’ve been referred to the breast clinic.

I hope everything turns out to be okay. Give us a ring if you would like to talk things over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
