Breast cancer/ ProSigna results

Hi, just to let you know, I had my hospital appointment today with the consultant.

When they removed my lump, they found s ome ore cancerous cells, however this has been removed and I've got clear margins on my breat and lymph nodes.

I'm definitely having hormone tablets for 10 years and Radiotherapy. However, some patients benefit from chemotherapy and some patients don't. I'm one of those patients where they are unsure. So now I have to wait another 3-4 weeks for another appointment to see the Oncologist who will tell me what percentage the chemotherapy will be beneficial for me. They will also confirm how long I need Radiotherapy for.
If the percentage of chemotherapy being beneficial is 2% for example, I need to decide if I want it. Some patients decide they don't because it's going through all that pain for 2% whereas some patients say 2% is 2%. The test is called a pro signa test
So It's a waiting game to find out what percentage it is for me then I need to make decision. If I do end up having chemo, it be for 6 months  ‍.

I am also going to be referred for the genes testing to see if it hereditary x

Has anyone had the experience where they needed the prosigna test because it's was not clear if chemotherapy was required?

  • Really hope we can both manage to swerve the more severe side effects. I have two friends who had EC and they both had totally different experiences...one breezed through it and the other friend was really sick...so really hoping i can avoid the nausea!!! But i guess time will tell but they have lots of anti sickness drugs etc so guess we have to take one day at a time!!..and we'll get through it and it will all be a little blip in our life story!

I'm thinking about doing the cold cap..but then keep changing my mind but i guess it can't hurt to try it once. I've got really fine hair as it is, i'm not sure it stands a chance!!!! I might go and get it all cut short into a pixie cut first...but again not really sure! Feels so strange to be talking about wigs and things...really hope my kids aren't going to be totally freaked out by it..they seem to be taking in their stride now but you never really know...

Will report back after my appt today. Really hope the first round goes ok, let me know how you're getting on and any tricks or tips you pick up along the way as i'll be  there right behind you!!

Hope appt on 12th goes ok..

    xx

  • Thank you, I will definitely let you know.

Yes, I hope we don't get severe sickness from this. Did the hospital provide the anti sickness tablets for your friends? Are they feeling OK now?xx

I'm the same, keep changing my mind about cutting my hair etc. I've heard the cold cap is painful fir 20 minutes then you just get used to it but I will let you know.

I hope my daughter doesn't get freaked out either. So far, she's been ok but time will tell xx

Yes, please let me know how you get on. My Oncologist was better than my consultant.  He didn't rush me at all. The nurse was fabulous too xx
