The tree is up in the loft and Ronnie cant get up there and i certainty cant. We have no family just him and me. I will stay on here and let everyone how my Ronnie gets on with his recovery. • where having a problem with the night bag because they didn't have a night bag stand we are having to put the night bag in a mop bucket but the urine is going into the bucket and not the night bag in the bucket. I am wondering if the valve isn't closed where the urine is supposed to come Ronnie sad it is shut . The stoma nurse just phoned and i told her about it and she said she would order him a stand and have some more night bags delivered and phone back tomorrow. Some good that will do. She said the outlet is not shut tightly or it's a faulty batch ? Whats your thoughts on that.Susie

  • Hi sorry that your having trouble the outlet valve could be open,  it's easy to slide shut, lt sounds like the urine running through the bag its a shame the ward didn't give you a run through of the night bag before you came home. It will help when you have th night bag stand, but the bucket seems a good stopgap.

The district nurses will be able to help , l would ring the doctors surgery explain what's happening and ask for a visit. A phone call from the stoma nurse is not much help

take care l hope this helps if not ring 111 and ask for soon assistance as they can contact your doctor for you.

  • I must admit i felt like takeing a photo of Ronnie in bed showing his night bag stuck in a mop bucket and sending it to the local paper. Then i think of the surgan that saved Ronnies life and i thought better of it.

  • Ronnies going for a CT scan with dye on his stoma and then if all OK he will be getting his stents out. I was a bit worried about Ronnie walking a long way to 2 separate clinics but they said he will get a wheel  chair and a porter so i am happy about that. It will be a nice change of senary for him he's getting a bit fedup of been in the house. He might change his mind when he see's how cold it is.

  • Hi wrap Ronnie up well with gloves and scarf the outside air is cold but it's usually really warm in the hospital. Is he going by hospital transport or a car?   Our nephew drives an outpatient ambulance he says he enjoys his work now, it's  much nicer than his previous job lugging sofas around delivering for Argos.
    Hope all goes well

  • Yes we got a taxi to the hospital and my niece brought us home. They said he was ok with the CT dye scan and he has had his stents out and a injection in his rear for infection. He hasn't been eating very much and this afternoon after lunch he was sick 3 times. He is on a mixture of iron tabs and antibiotics x asprin and statin and i am wondering if the tab s are making him sick because he isn't eating much. Getting a bit worried.

  • If the antibiotic is nitrofumantin it made my husband very very sick x
