Cancer and Addisons

Hi all I've been on forum for quite a few years now.

Haven't noticed anyone with both.unless I've missed it .

But thought I'd let people know what's going on with me lately ,

Beginning of the year my PSA (cancer count) rose up quite fast and quite high ,so oncologist put me on New meds, nearly three months ago since then My blood pressure is going mad mainly low so oncologist and Addisons specialist told me to increase my fludrcortizone, for my heart, from 1 1/2 to 2tablets a day, about two weeks later,no improvement so doctor and oncologist tell me to increase to 3 tablets day a week later phone call from Dr stop extra tablet my sodium levels have dropped dangerous levels so i carry on with low BP , spoke to Addisons specialist this morning explained everything everything he told me I should never have increased dose to 3and those tablets would not decrease my sodium levels, its more than likely that My new cancer meds are making My Addisons meds metabolize to fast in my body so they don't last long enough to do there job properly,at last something is making sense.

Now hes arranging a all day blood test at hospital so I have to Go early have tablets with blood test either side by about an hour, morning, lunch and evening,to see if meds are going out of My body to quickly.

Then at least I should know one way or the other than hopefully someone will figure out what to do..

Sorry if I'm ranting a lot but three months of being told one thing then another im getting rather fed up,fed up is rather mild to what I actually think, but thought id keep it clean,.

Hope everyone is keeping safe, keeping positive and keeping fighting.

Billy

  • Hi Billy...

That's really good, getting a wet room ... I'm sure it will make life easier ... and yea, don't think any of us will feel "normal" as we used to ... we just have to keep finding a new normal ... but that's o.k ..

Even the weather is not the usual ... so glad I got enough food in ... lol ... it's thick out there ... snow I mean ... so stay safe our amazing billy ... like your little blog ... sending you a vertual hug as always...Chrissie xx

  • Hello Chriss,

well you certainly raised a smile when l read your term "its thick out there",although l have to admit l was not thinking of snow at the time, but rather with everything else thats going on presently. Thanks for that happy moment removed from current reality,

                                                                                         David

  • Hi there Dave...

That's my view on life, to find at least one thing every day that makes me smile , no mater what ...

On this morning the wonderful Ben Shepard showed a clip he did with holly Willoughby years ago... it was about "welly wanging".... well I think you can imagine how holly repeated that ...

Here's to kicking cancers butt and still finding something to smile at ...

Hope you got that too Billy...  vertual hugs all round .... Chrissie xx

  • Hi Chrissie.

Yes I got it like you say we need something to make us smile even better a good laugh .

Other day Melissa,(neighbor who comes round to check on us and does shopping) came round Bella always comes for a treat, anyway Melissa thought it was a little big so broke it in half Bella sniffed it then went to her dish and took a full one out shes never been in her dish before, but she wasn't being fobbed of with half.

No change in either of us lately in either of us last couple of days just taking good with the bad.

Got covid jab Saturday afternoon, bren had hers last week no problems.

Still got heating well up 24/7  .

    Take care keep safe.

    Love Billy xxxx

  • Hi Billy...

Well was wondering how you are ... think most people are on low with this covid that seems never ending ... let's hope spring helps a tad now ... though temp outside is back to freezing again ...

Bet you were well proud of your self having that walk ... that was amazing ... hope your girls are behaving their selfs ... well you keep safe ... and always thinking of you and a vertual hug as always.... Chrissie xx

  • Hi Chrissie.

Hope things are going for you, what with family and friends you've a lot on.

I've been feeling okay lately, just tired and no energy still, brenda really playing up I've been putting side rails on her bed but she climbs over and falls on floor so leaving off so not so high to drop or she can sit on bed edge, commode is right becide bed so she can manage that now tried to put main light on last night so on floor again, nothing I do is right and she's throwing things and swearing at me, wants divorce and to go to her first husband.

She's been like it before but it went off after couple of weeks have to see what happens.

I just keep clear now unless she asks for help.

Thanks for the hug really appreciate it.

    Love Billy xxxx

  • Hi there Billy...

Bless ya ... I had a couple of years with my big amazing wonderful sister who had dementure at the end of that journey, and her favorite word was f off ... and it was so hard, but we had a few of us to hold each other's hand and kept thinking it's not her it's the dementure ... but we had lots of tears when we'd got home ... but you got it 24 /7 and I can't imagine how that is ..

But I will forever remember one of my last chat with her ... she let me hold her hand and I sat there for ages watching her sleep ... then when she was awake she looked at me kindly ... and I said to her "l really love you"  she looked in my eyes and said to me " and I love you more"  : )) x

So that took away every harsh word ... I'd gotten my sister back ... so hold on to that thought ... lots of those in pain are calling for their first hubby / wife ... even if they wernt that nice ... think it's the brain remembering years ago, when they were well ... and resenting where they are today ... health wise ...

It's really not you Billy... but your doing right, just get into another room ... play music .. watch t.v ... do something "normal" to get your thoughts back on track ... and keep saying to your self ... it's not Bren.. its the situation ... and don't forget you can call the nurses here or McMillan or Marie Currie for a chat ...

I called a bereavement help line because of loosing my granddaughter... I sobbed for about half an hour .. but it really helped ... I'm always here my lovely buddy ... there's a lot of us regulars here that care about you ... so hold on and I'm sending a spiecial hug winging its way to you right now ...Chrissie xx

  • Hi all just a quick update again.

I'm not feeling bad, still low BP so no energy at all.         Brenda is going out back into the sun ️ ️ lately, well I push her out in the wheelchair in morning and black in evening, got some wheelchair ramps alot better than 7  steps she'd like to walk up,we have a handrail one side,so I let her try it at the top I supported her from the front, she finished stepping on both my feet giving me a push, finished up laying on my back on the grass with Brenda laying on top laughing her head off. So use wheelchair always now, she's very sneaky sometimes, well after all she is female. She is still weak but determined.

Oh nearly forgot about my PSA last one was 0.08 so still going down,so not much to worry about with my cancer it's still there as My uninvited guest. It's finding something to get my BP up and I'd be happy, I've tried exercise no good. Soon had it and panting but BP not changing.

Hope all my friends are managing well in the heat,

Love to you all Billy xxxx
