I'm new here so I hope I am in the right place.
I have a 3cm soft tissue lump in the bottom of my thigh muscle. Had MRI a couple of weeks ago and an appointment under the 2 week system on 16th April. The consultant wasn't sure from the MRI scan exactly what lump was so they performed a biopsy to test for sarcoma. Hospital said they would contact me and arrange another appointment when results were through. I still haven't heard anything and now starting to get really worried. How long do biopsy results take to come back? My husband thinks its good I haven't heard as he said it means they haven't found anything bad and its not a priority to let me know and I will hear soon (he might just be trying to keep me calm!)
Anyone able to help or advise on this - desperately trying not to worry but its getting hard not to.
You are certainly in the right place as this is a really friendly supportive forum and I hope it wont be too long before others respond. Its difficult to be exact on timings as different tests/consultants take varying lengths of time. In my husbands case the biopsy was as a result of an unclear MRI and it was nearly three weeks before appointment with consultant to discuss results which wa explained to him at the meeting. Hope your husband is right in his thinking but it his really hard during the waiting period (minds play all sorts of tricks). It may be worth contacting your GP or the hospital to see if an appointment for follow up is forthcoming as would hate to think you under all this stress unnecessarily. Take care and let us know how you get on. All the best Jules54
Biopsy and scan results ........... how long is a piece of string? Depends on where you are, what 'they' think you've got, allow for weekends and bank holidays and that some tests take days to complete.
I've just spent today on the phone chasing results for a biopsy that I had three weeks ago. The results were available but nobody had thought to contact me.
Hope your results were OK; I've had a soft lump of that size on my thigh for the last 30 years or so. My GP just looked at it, prodded it, and said it was a cyst. I presume he was right! Richard
Just had news that the lump is benign......such a relief. Not sure what it is exactly but I have an appointment with consultant in a couple of weeks to see what happens next.
Thanks for your support
