Hi. I'm 35. I had a baby via c-section 11/2012. At that time my dr removed a small fibroid from my fallopian tube. Since then, I'd lost the baby weight and was doing pretty well. But within the last 5 months, my periods have become very bad. They started just getting heavier and a day or two longer. Now it's progressed to the point where it's just non-stop bleeding. It's extremely heavy (I soak through the tampons and pads and ruin my clothes, sheets, seats, whatever) with big (walnut-sized) clots. I've got continuous cramps and bloating, and I have to run to the bathroom everytime I eat. Despite that, I'm gaining weight and am as heavy now as I was at 8 months pregnant. I'm exhausted all the time, but just contributed that to the baby. I thought maybe I had another fibroid, but my mom pointed out that my paternal grandmother had ovarian cancer, so now I'm terrified. I have an appointment with my gyn next week, but was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts or advice in the meantime? Is it even possible this could develop in the year since my dr last opened me up?
I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing problems at the moment. We have some information on our CancerHelp page about Ovarian cancer that may answer some of the questions you might have.
I hope that your appointment next week gives you some answers.
