High grade dyskaryosis

Hi all,

I'm a 28 year old woman and have had smear tests every 6 months since I was 25. Every test I've had has come back more abnormal than the last, with the most recent results being yesterday advising me that I have high grade dyskaryosis. This will be my 5th visit to the colposcopy clinic. Each time I have been I have been told that there are no obvious abnormalities from what they can see and the biopsy's have supported their results each time. I am absolutely terrified that they're missing something if my smear tests are suggesting that there is something wrong. I'm currently waiting for my hospital appointment so until then there's not really anything I can do. Has this happened to anyone else? Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I'm really worried. Many thanks xx

Hi Butler789

Sorry I have no real knowledge of y our particular experience though have had abnormal 'smear' results in the past which the follow up investigations have found nothing.  Can understand that  you must be finding this very unsettling and just wanted to welcome you to the forum so you know there people reading your post.  Hopefully soon others with better knowledge will be along to respond but in the meantime just wanted to wish you all the best with your next appointment and if you wanted a personal chat you can ring the specialist nurses during 9-5 Mon to Fri on the freephone number on this site (if you are UK based).  If after your next appointment you are still not satisfied maybe you could ask for a second opinion as we are all entitled to do that (if only for peace of mind).  Write down all the questions you may have and all the symptoms you may have so that you dont forget to mention anything as I find my mind often goes blank when I am actually at an appointment.  Take care Jules54
