Hi, sorry to bother,
I've had a painful lump in the pubic area above the genitals and below the stomach (not sure on the name of the bodypart).
It is beneath the skin and there is no change in colouring in the area. It is on the right side of the area, which is naturally fatty, and just feeling the area there doesn't seem to be anything untoward, but it feel different to the opposite side, however still soft.
It doesn't hurt constantly but it does hurt regularly. This has been going on since December. The area is relatively big in size.
I have now found a small lump on my neck, under my jaw line. It has been there for about a month. It's hard and doesn't hurt or cause any trouble. Again, no change in colour or anything in the area.
The big problem is, i have been treated for mental health trouble for the past 2 years, and i haven't left the house in 8 months, and therefore i am not able to see my doctor.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and sorry for wasting anyone's time should I be over thinking this.
Have you tried cantacting your GP to get them for a home visist (after explaining your issues).
You can't/shoulnd't just self diagnose based on info you find on the net.
remeber if it IS something nasty, you are potentially gambling with your life..................sooner is better in cases of cancer my friend!!
Sorry if this sounds harsh, i just feel it is something you have to get checked, cos it certainly sounds like it needs investigation......hopefully its nothing to worry about eh.
All the best.
Seeing your Doctor would be best but if you can not get a home visit ring NHS Direct and talk to them or at the very least email a nurse on this site. You must get someone to check it out. May be you mental health professional can help find someone who could check it out for you.
Please make sure you get this checked out you deserve to get this sorted if only to put your mind at rest. Don't gamble that it will be ok! As I found out early diagnosis does give you a better chance.
You take care and please see someone.
yeah mate get this cheeckout as quickly as poss. hope you are ok but to be honest i do not think it sounds too good. the groin area is the bodypart your mentioning. ps if the news is bad then we can help you through it, i had a small lump in my neck and a large one at the side of my neck and the news for me was not good but now i have totally recovered and the road to fitness was easier than i thought it would be
Don't think it's silly to ask the question that you did. Sometimes it's easier to look at other people's problems but when it comes to your own, it's not so easy (I'm speaking from my own experience).
If you have'nt been out for a long time, I know how difficult it will be for you, but please try. Like you said to get a home visit from a doctor, or if all else fails, maybe you can get a friend to go to your doctor with you. Maybe you could also consider getting a taxi.
I'm worried for you because the chains created by our mind can make us as disabled as being physically immobile. You know though that you are able to create disabling chains in your head. Well, you're half way to realising that you can create enabling chains as well.
You have'nt wasted anyone's time, because by posting on this site you've highlighted a specific need of agoraphobia that I had'nt considered.
Best wishes and good luck.
Thanks again for the messages, i never expected to get such a friendly response.
I think i'll phone my GP up in the morning (tuesday 30th) and see what the receptionist says. I'm sure I'll be able to get a lift from a family member, it's just going to be daunting should I be asked to attend any other appointments.
It may sound naive and indeed insulting after reading some of the heartbreaking stories on this site; but it's not any sort of diagnosis no matter how serious or not that is racking my mind, it's the not knowing what is wrong that is 'painful'.
I'll post back tomorrow if this thread is still around and try and keep in touch no matter what happens. People on here are very inspiring.
Good luck to you all.
Glad to hear you sounding so positive.
You write of awe inspiring people on this site, but this is just what you are. I know that people in a similar position to you will read your thread and know that they can be positive and motivated about their lives too, whatever the obstacles.
As for yours being a small concern in comparison to some of those you've read, I disagree. Your anxiety about your condition is echoed in any of the stories on this site.
As for getting an appointment that may call for further visits to the doctor, that sounds like it could be a concern that becomes one more link in the chain that stops you going out. Please accept that might be true, then make that call to the doctor tomorrow.
Dustin10 I really want you to make that call. Your concern is ours on this site, as is your success in going to the doctor and getting yourself checked out.
The thing is, none of us can lead you to the doctor where you need to go. I trust you to do that. You say some of the stories you've read here are inspiring. Then you know those people need to hear positive things from you.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Glad to hear you are going to ring the doctor, good luck with it. Don't let the receptionist put you off, if you have any difficulties ask for the doctor to ring you back and explain it to him. Come back and let us know how you got on.
All the Best
Thanks for the support.
I managed to ring up first thing and get an appointment practically straight away.
The doctor had a feel of both lumps and said he wanted to send me for an ultra sound for the one in my groin. It was quite disheartening how he just shrugged it off.
I don't know, it feels like I want a second opinion.
Hey the Ultra sound is good get it done! Doctors can't tell anything with out these tests. I've had 2 ultrasounds that the doctor used to decide to send me for biopsies and then the MRI when these came back as positive. Only then did they sit me down and say hey it is bad but we can do something about it
They won't go any further until the tests are done. Treatment is too specialised for doctors to have a quick poke and then make a diagnosis. No they get all the results first. The ultrasound is quick easy and a good operative will usually be able to say to you this is nothing just a cyst or will tell you it looks like it could be something and will refer you back to your GP in hours. As for doctors being dismissive remember to us this is a big deal as its our bodies, to your GP he deals with this sort of thing daily, he wouldn't want to cause you worry by going over the top and rightly he says he need more facts before he will commit himself. You go and have the ultrasound it's quick easy and one of the nicer test believe me.
You take care and take every test they offer. I got to see last Christmas thanks to the tests and the people who work in the health service. Hopefully I'll get to see a lot more Christmas' to come.
All the best
conaby is right mate, doc wont know exactly what it is, an the ultrasound is a really easy and simple thing to go through, you never mentioned if he said anything about the lump in your neck. i know it is a struggle for you to go to these places but unfortunatly you have no choice. beter safe than sorry. good luck mate hope its an all clear you get
I note you feel how hard it is to get any positive feedback from the doctor (not unlike other people's experiences I've read). However, thanks for the update on how you're doing, and if you feel you need a second opinion, go for it.
